The competition was intense at Martial Arts Expo 5, held Sunday March 9 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Gardnerville, NV. The annual event is a fundraiser for local charities, with many martial arts schools from northern Nevada participating. It is co-hosted by Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department, High Desert Martial Arts and Sierra Dojo. This year's proceeds were donated to Douglas County Sheriff's Search & Rescue team. Modern Arnis Seminar: Sensei Popp conducted a Modern Arnis seminar covering various basics within the art. The seminar was scheduled by the Order of Isshin Ryu Board of Directors for 2008. Bohemia Manor High School, Chesapeake City, MD: On June 21st the Order of Isshin-Ryu gathered for their annual summer shiai program. The seminar presented on Saturday featured Master Sifu Tom Clark and his son Mr. Chris Clark. Bohan-Niemira Memorial Tournament: On June 26 a group of OI members traveled to Virginia to attend the Don Bohan & Rick Niemira Memorial Tournament.
